Classroom and shop

Georgia Building Trades Academy empowers young adults aged 16–24 to learn the skills they need to take their rightful place in the skilled trades — and to build a future for themselves and their families.
The Georgia Building Trades Academy is a 501(c)(3) training organization dedicated to providing Georgia’s citizens with the education and employment opportunities that lead to a successful career in the construction industry.
The Academy is designed to prepare individuals to enter and succeed in registered apprenticeship programs, which are gateways to strong, middle-class jobs in the U.S. construction industry.
Our goal is to increase the number of qualified candidates for apprenticeship, and to increase retention rates among apprentices, by giving participants a deeper understanding of the industry and of the role craft unions play in construction.
The Academy is supported by the Atlanta & North Georgia Building & Construction Trades Council, 19 affiliate construction unions and their Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees (JATCs), in partnership with community groups, contractors, and government agencies.
That backing is the difference between a training program and a pipeline. The organizations that teach the classes are the same ones that run the apprenticeships and employ the graduates.

OSHA certification and First Aid/CPR/AED are not add-ons. They are the baseline every contractor checks before you walk onto a site.
Driver’s education, 4 Wheels 4 Work, and Insure The Ride address the practical barriers that end careers before they start.
You meet the trades directly — the people, the halls, and the apprenticeship committees you will be applying to.
Graduating is the middle of the process, not the end. We work the application into apprenticeship with you.
There is no cost to apply and no cost to attend. The program is funded by the trades, community partners, and government support.
